EMMA LINES MUSIC

I was born in Birmingham, and brought up in Worcester, where from an early age became very interested in all aspects of music. Now I live in and work in Edinburgh.

I completed a BMus Honours degree in Music at the University of Edinburgh in 2005. Whilst at University, although studying all areas of music, I primarily specialised in composition, covering anything from Orchestral and Choral writing to the more diverse Electroacoustic genre.

Since leaving university I have set myself up as a business :: Emma Lines Music :: and now work primarily from home in a small studio setup.

My main influences in writing have included anything from film to paintings. I especially admire the surreal, and easily find inspiration with directors such as Tim Burton and M. Night Shyamalan, and the surrealist artist Salvador Dali (as many of my friends will confirm I'm sure!! - I once wrote a three movement piece based upon Dali's The Persistence of Memory )

It is fair to say that I work best with some form of Media for inspiration, so working in film and TV seemed like the obvious choice.

(As well as writing music, I also teach in local schools, and privately at home, and have an excellent pass rate for Associated Board exams.)
