I have recently written a Recorder Tutor book called Recorder Roundabout which is now being published by Forsyth Publications in Manchester. I first was asked to write the book by City of Edinburgh Council for use in the Youth Music Initiative classes on a Saturday morning, but it is now being used in many primary schools around the city.

Recorder Roundabout is a new tutor book for Recorder, which I consider to be very different from those currently on the market. ÒRecorder RoundaboutÓ, takes the learner far further, and much faster than existing recorder tutors. The book is aimed to last a full school year, and by the end of the year the learner will be able to play almost every note they will need for the first few grades. The tutor takes the learner from Low C to top A, which in other tutors is covered over two or three tutors. This in itself is great for Parents who often seem to be sent to buy books every few weeks. Recorder Roundabout is aimed at primary school age children, and has friendly graphics, drawn by myself, and friendly text, with no technical jargon they might not understand. My terms are very understandable and the book is set out in a very easy to use manner, making learning new notes and rhythms very simple indeed. Also I have included some theory elements, group rhythm exercises and short tests throughout, which also help the children to understand what they are learning as they progress through the book.
